Farina and Fruit Breakfast Bowl

This creamy and healthy farina and almond butter breakfast bowl will certainly fill you up and is a perfect way to start your day on a chilly winter morning. Are you looking for a breakfast bowl that is dairy free? We used almond milk rather than dairy milk to prepare the farina. You could also use any other nut or plant based milk. Did we mention that the prep time is easy and quick? That means you can enjoy a healthy and delicious meal before running out the door in the morning or you can savor it on the weekends with your favorite hot beverage.

Here’s a few helpful hints to follow when making the farina. When using your microwave, be certain to cook the farina uncovered in a deep bowl and to carefully watch the cooking process to avoid spillage. When removing from the microwave, use care because the bowl will be hot. Be sure to whisk the farina to your desired consistency and allow to cool a little. Then let the fun begin by adding your toppings. We added lots of flavor, texture, and pops of color with our choices of almond butter, wheat germ, banana chips, and fresh red raspberries. We finished off this heartwarming bowl with a drizzle of agave syrup and a hint of sweetened coconut for just the right amount of sweetness.

Description

A quick and healthy breakfast that is sure to become one of your winter favorites.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons farina
  • 1/2 cup almond milk, unsweetened 
  • 1/2 cup water 

Toppings 

  • 57 raspberries 
  • 68 banana chips 
  • 2 teaspoons sweetened, shredded coconut 
  • 2 teaspoons almond butter 
  • 2 teaspoons agave syrup 
  • 1 teaspoon wheat germ 

Instructions

1. Place water, almond milk, and farina in a deep bowl and microwave uncovered on high for approximately 2 1/2 minutes.  

2. Immediately whisk the farina to ensure a smooth consistency and to help it cool down. 

3. Move the slightly cooled farina to a serving bowl and arrange all the toppings on top 

4. Enjoy with your favorite breakfast beverage. 

Notes

**Stand at the microwave and watch carefully to avoid any spillage. If you notice your farina starting to bubble over, simply turn off the microwave and take it out.
